During the last weekend of June, 13 newly appointed and elected District 108 Officers were learning how to perform their roles. The training is called a Bootcamp and takes place every year when new team members start their adventure.
The Bootcamp consists of three parts: the training, business meeting and integration.
During the training we learn what are our responsibilities, how to motivate ourselves and our team members. We also learn how to be better leaders and help others in achieving common goals.
The business meeting part of the Bootcamp is very important because it is the very first moment when the whole new team gathers and has time to discuss the future of the District and make some decisions. The session was even more special this year, because it marked the birth of a new District. And as such -many decisions had to be made. As the decisions affect all of us, I would like to share them with you.
- The District motto for year 2018/2019 will be “Strong together.”
- District 108 official language will be English, which means that the official District contests will be conducted in this language. It also means that during District gatherings the main language will be English.
- The only official District conference will happen in spring, when we will hold the District Finals for the contests.
- The first online District Council Meeting (DCM) will be held on the 23rd of September 2018. District Council Meeting consists of District Core Team, Extended Core Team, Division Directors, Area Directors, Club Presidents and Vice Presidents Education. During the meeting we will be making decisions concerning our District’s life.
The last part of the Bootcamp is always very important and it is the time when we get to know each other and spend some time together talking about our personal lives. This is vital because for the next year the newest team members will be working side by side, solving problems and celebrating success. In order to cooperate well it is essential to get to know one another and not be ashamed or too shy to ask for help or advice.
The Bootcamp was a very exciting time for the new District 108 officers, because we got to learn what will we do for the next year, what we should expect from each other and make sure that whatever we do, we stay Strong together.
