PROJECT RULES
Q1. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN ODYSSEY PROJECT?
Every Toastmasters member can participate, but we give priority to the Toastmasters members from our District 108. Also, non Toastmasters members can participate, but only for a limited time. They can, of course, continue as Toastmasters.
Q2. HOW DOES THE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
The process is structured in rounds.
A round starts when the pair is assigned, and each mentoring or networking pair is given 3 weeks to meet online or in person. After three weeks all participants get a link to give feedback about their mentoring or networking pair and the process in general. They should also specify if they want to continue with the same mentor/mentee. The pair continues only if both parties desire so. Otherwise, a new mentor/mentee will be assigned for the next round, and so on until a suitable mentor/mentee is found. On the networking path, the assigned pair changes automatically at every round.
The feedback part takes one week, therefore a whole round takes 4 weeks. It is a sign of respect to stick to the engagement because otherwise, there is a person waiting in vain at the other side of the pair.
After each round there is a possibility to decide on whether to continue or not at the next round.
Q3. WHAT HAPPENS IF I REGISTER AFTER THE CURRENT ROUND STARTS?
In that case – you will get a match in the next round.
Q4. HOW OFTEN ARE THE ROUNDS?
The rounds start at 1 month intervals.
Q5. WHAT IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH MENTORS IN THE PLATFORM?
We try to match people as well as possible, still if there are not enough mentors available and the person also wanted to network, we give priority in networking matching process such that we make sure that the participant can enjoy at least some benefits of the program while waiting for a mentor.

Q6. HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO BE A TOASTMASTERS MEMBER TO JOIN ODYSSEY PROJECT?

Q7. DURING ODYSSEY PROJECT CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR HOME CLUB?
Yes! This is not a problem. Please just make sure that you update your information in the system. Although we give priority to District 108 members, you are welcome from all parts of the world!
Q8. DO YOU NEED TO BE A TOASTMASTERS MEMBER TO JOIN THE PROJECT?
UPDATE June 2020: only Toastmasters active or past members can join the project!
o, you are free to join the Odyssey project, and participate for two rounds. This is an added benefit for those who consider joining Toastmasters.
Q9. HOW LONG DOES THE JOURNEY LAST?
The mentoring journey is usually a long term activity.
At the end of each round, you will be asked if you want to continue with the same mentor. If both of you desire to meet again, then you can continue for as long as you like. Otherwise – you will have a new mentor assigned.

Q10. DO I GET TO LEARN HOW TO BE A MENTOR?
Currently the platform helps you find a mentor/mentee or networking pair. Educational materials on how to be a mentor will be made available later.
There is also the possibility to select “Mentoring” as skill to be mentored in. Also, by being a mentee, you can learn how to be a mentor!
Q11. DOES THIS SYSTEM REPLACE THE MENTORING SYSTEM AT THE CLUB?
No, the platform serves as support for the club mentoring system, by providing easy access to mentors/mentees from all over the district.

Q12. ARE THERE POLISH SPEAKING MENTORS?
Yes! Also – during the registration, you can specify what language you prefer for the mentoring or networking process (Polish, Lithuanian, or any other language of the district). The conversations can be held in your preferred language, so there is no need to speak English to join the program!
Q13. CAN YOU REGISTER IN POLISH?
The registration platform is currently only available in English. You might want to seek a friendly Toastmaster, who will help you register to the program. The conversations can be held in your preferred language (Polish, Lithuanian, or any other language of the district), so there is no need to speak English to join the program!

Q14. WHY THE NAME?
Mentor is originally the name of the person, to whom Odysseus trusted his son Telemachus, while he was traveling.
Odysseus had a clear goal but faced obstacles (like finding a great mentor) and he also had to network a lot while traveling home. And the story actually had a happy ending.

Q15. WHAT IS THE DEVELOPMENT PATH AFTER COMPLETING THE ODYSSEY PROJECT MENTORING?
Mentoring in Project Odyssey does not differ from any other mentoring in Toastmasters. The platform only helps you to connect with a mentor/mentee.
Q16. IS THE ACTIVITY IN THE PROJECT SUFFICIENT TO COMPLETE THE PATHWAYS MENTOR PROGRAM?
It’s wonderful you ask! Yes, it is sufficient to join and complete the Project Odyssey journey to be eligible for the Pathways Mentor Program.

#1: KTO MOŻE BRAĆ UDZIAŁ W PROGRAMIE?
Każdy członek organizacji Toastmasters jest mile widziany, choć priorytetem są dla nas członkowie Dystryktu 108.
Osoby, które nie należą do Toastmasters, również mogą brać udział, jednak tylko przez dwie rundy. Mogą oczywiście kontynuować swą podróż z Odyssey, po dołączeniu do organizacji.
#2: JAK WYGLĄDA CAŁY PROCES?
Proces działa na zasadzie rund.
Runda rozpoczyna się, gdy przypisane zostają do siebie pary. Każda para ma 3 tygodnie na to, aby spotkać się i porozmawiać (także przez Internet). Po trzech tygodniach każdy uczestnik otrzymuje link do ankiety z prośbą o informację zwrotną dotyczącą relacji, jaką nawiązał oraz dotyczącą całego procesu. W ankiecie jest również pytanie o to, czy chce kontynuować pracę z tą samą mentorką lub tym samym mentorem. Jeśli nie – przypisana zostanie nowa osoba w roli mentora. Na ścieżce networkingowej pary zmieniają się co rundę. Czas na wysłanie informacji zwrotnej to jeden tydzień, także cała runda trwa cztery tygodnie.
Po każdej rundzie, uczestnicy decydują, czy chcą kontynuować podróż w kolejnej.
#3: CO STANIE SIĘ, JEŚLI ZAREJESTRUJĘ SIĘ W TRAKCIE TRWANIA RUNDY?
W takim wypadku, para mentoringowa lub networkingowa zostanie dla Ciebie wylosowana w kolejnej rundzie.
#4: JAK CZĘSTO ODBYWAJĄ SIĘ RUNDY?
Rundy trwają cztery tygodnie. Kolejna runda rozpoczyna się wraz z zakończeniem poprzedniej.
#5: CO DZIEJE SIĘ, GDY W PROGRAMIE NIE MA JUŻ WOLNYCH MENTORÓW?
Staramy się dopasować uczestników tak dobrze, jak to tylko możliwe. Czasami jednak, nie ma odpowiedniej liczby mentorów w programie. W takiej sytuacji, staramy się zapewnić przynajmniej parę networkingową.
Dzięki temu osoby takie mogą otrzymać część benefitów uczestnictwa w platformie, w czasie, gdy czekamy na odpowiedniego mentora

Mentoring to zazwyczaj długotrwały proces. Na koniec każdej rundy, zostaniesz zapytana lub zapytany, o to, czy chcesz kontynuować pracę z tym samym mentorem. Tak! Również podczas rejestracji możesz wybrać język, w którym preferujesz spotkania. Spotkania takie odbywają się już w języku wybranym przez osoby dobrane w pary, także brak znajomości angielskiego nie jest przeszkodą!
#13: CZY MOŻNA ZAREJESTROWAĆ SIĘ W PROGRAMIE PO POLSKU?
W tej chwili platforma rejestracyjna jest dostępna jedynie w języku angielskim. Przy rejestracji, radzimy skorzystać z pomocy Toastmastera, który zna język angielski. Spotkania odbywają się już jednak w języku wybranym przez osoby dobrane w pary, także brak znajomości angielskiego nie jest przeszkodą!

#14: SKĄD WZIĘŁA SIĘ NAZWA PROJEKTU?
Mentor to imię osoby, której Odyseusz powierzył swojego syna Telemacha, wyruszając w podróż.
Odys z pewnością miał jasny cel swojej wędrówki, lecz musiał pokonać wiele przeszkód (takich, jak choćby znalezienie dobrego mentora!). Nawiązał również wiele kontaktów w czasie swej wędrówki. A cała historia zakończyła się szczęśliwie!

#15: JAKA JEST ŚCIEŻKA ROZWOJU W TOASTMASTERS, PO MENTORINGU W PROJEKCIE ODYSSEY?
Mentoring w Odyssey nie różni się niczym od “zwykłego” mentoringu. Platforma ułatwia nawiązywanie kontaktu z mentorem / podopiecznym.
